APAC Annual Meeting 2015 IN Malaysia


"Friends of the Earth - Asia and the Pacific" conference for 2015 finished its work for the year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Asian environmental organizations, members in Friends of the Earth participated in the conference, where these institutions opposed to all forms of globalization and neo-liberalism leading to the destruction of ecosystems and the looting of the territory of the farmers, to implement environmentally destructive projects.
The representatives of Friends of the Earth Palestine, Dr.Ayman Rabi head of the network and Abeer AlButmeh, Network Coordinator, represented their main activities during 2014 and debated the most important interventions carried out by the Network in cooperation with Friends of the Earth Asia. The conference also discussed the main program for "Friends of the Earth - Asia and the Pacific", which are; "Economic Justice and the resistance of neoliberalism" which involves bank interventions, and  international financial institutions which are  environmentally destructive and aims to open the doors wide for the profit companies greedy monopoly. 
The conference also discussed the governments and international companies working on projects that destroy the local environment, and addressed the so-called climate justice  and the protection of communities affected by environmental and climatic changes. As well as working with local people to protect their rights in forest management and biodiversity.
Discussion also revolved around the issue of food sovereignty and the right of people’s sovereignty over food production, markets and management of agricultural resources, and to encourage and enrich the traditional local knowledge. To face this reality and to achieve food sovereignty is necessary to strengthen relations with organizations and movements, and to promote and support towards the idea of alternative local productivity solutions.
